Erik ten Hag hasn’t held back on his assessment of Manchester United and what needs to be fixed to return to the glory days.

The Ajax boss is set to join the Premier League club this summer and is struggling to rebuild the club’s fortunes.

Ten Hag is set to be Man United’s next manager and appears to have impressed some in the club’s hierarchy in interviews

And Ten Hag told technical director Darren Fletcher and director of football John Murtough exactly what was needed, reports The Sun.

An unnamed club source told the newspaper it appeared the 52-year-old was the one dictating the meeting rather than the other way around.

Ten Hag is said to have ‘destroyed’ United’s setup, with the scouting and recruitment departments coming under fire.

Hundreds of millions of pounds have been spent on new players since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club in 2013, which was the last time they won the Premier League.

If he were to put pen to paper, then Ten Hag, who beat competition from Mauricio Pochettino for the job, will have a big job to do to get the club back to where it was under Fergie.

It looks to be another disappointing campaign for the 20-time league champions who have gone five years without any silverware and face a daunting challenge to reach the Champions League next season.

Many names could also come out of the door, with Nemanja Matic confirming he will leave, and other stars such as Paul Pogba out of contract this summer.
