Mohamed Salah is said to be missed by Liverpool more than Sadio Mane, with the star duo’s future still uncertain, with the Egyptian king boasting of the ‘best partnership in the world’ with Trent Alexander-Arnold

Mohamed Salah would be a bigger miss than Sadio Mane if he were to leave Liverpool this summer, according to Tony Cascarino.

The Egyptian star faces an uncertain future at Anfield with his contract at the club set to expire next summer.

While the 29-year-old eased the worry by revealing he will stay at the club for at least next season, his long-term future at the club is still uncertain.

The same cannot be said for Mane, however, with the Senegalese star heavily linked with a move to Bayern Munich this summer.

It’s plausible that Liverpool are set to lose at least one of Jurgen Klopp’s best players, but according to Cascarino, it goes without saying that Salah should be retained if he wants to stay.

When asked who he would prefer to keep, Liverpool fan and former Republic of Ireland striker Cascarino told the Weekend Sports Breakfast: “I would always go to Salah, only slightly, but if Salah wanted to leave more than Mane, I would let Salah go.

“That’s how I feel. I would like whoever commits the most to stay, and I hope they both feel that way.

“He seems to have this real belief.

Salah has once again reached new heights with an impressive campaign for the Reds

“I believe Salah is a player who will always cause problems for teams because defenders hate playing against them. He wants to run behind them.

“Even when he’s not playing well, he’ll still do the things that make him such a great player.

“He controls things badly sometimes, but he never stops trying to do that and that’s what Klopp really likes about him.

“There is no cut with Mo Salah. He always wants the ball, always, and that’s what comes out with Salah.

He added: “I don’t think he was the best player in the world in the second half of the season.

“He scored 22 goals in 27 games before the Chelsea game at the start of the year so he was absolutely flying, then after that he scored nine in 27.”

Cascarino even shared positive words about Salah’s relationship with Trent Alexander-Arnold on the right flank, describing it as ‘one of the best relationships’ he has ever seen.

He said: “Salah allow Trent [Alexander-Arnold] to put themselves in dangerous positions. Mo does this brilliantly for him, their relationship is amazing.

“It goes a little under the radar because we talk about their individual ability, but as a team they work in tandem brilliantly.

“They’re as good together as any full-back and winger I’ve seen in the game.”
